Carefully! Fraudsters!

The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic warns: cases of telephone fraud have become more frequent!

Using various methods of deceiving citizens through telephone calls, scammers aim to steal your money from your accounts or issue an online loan to you for subsequent transfer.

How it's done?

First, a person gets a call from an alleged commercial bank employee and reports about a leak of personal data or third parties applying for online loans on his behalf. Next, an imaginary employee of the National Bank (or other government body) gets involved, who, under the pretext of saving money, invites the victim to transfer it to a safe, protected account. At the same time, the numbers from the attackers may be fake. To be convincing, they can send a fake ID or other document with the signature of the management of the National Bank and the corresponding logo. At the same time, the victim of the scammers performs all transactions for transferring or issuing online loans himself, following the instructions of the scammers.

How can you protect yourself?

1. Stop the conversation if imaginary employees of a bank, National Bank or other government bodies call you and report a leak of your personal data or an unauthorized issuance of an online loan in your name. If you decide to continue the conversation, do not under any circumstances enable screen sharing during the conversation, do not transmit your personal (confidential) data (TIN, codes, PIN codes, etc.), do not confirm any information about you. Thus, it is better not to answer video calls from unknown numbers in messengers at all, and also not to follow unverified Internet links from strangers.
2. If a telephone call has caused you doubts, you need to call the official numbers of a particular bank indicated on the website, in mobile applications, or go to the nearest bank office;
3. Remember that banks and the National Bank do not call regarding unauthorized issuance of online loans or leakage of personal data and do not send employee IDs and other official documents via instant messengers.

What to do if you become a victim of scammers?

If you realize that you have become a victim of fraud, you need to immediately report this to the bank, ask to block the card or account, and then urgently submit an application to law enforcement agencies.

REMEMBER: scammers' schemes may vary, but the main goal is to mislead you into believing them and transferring money from your account. From the moment you transfer your funds, the scammers' goal has been achieved.
